Distributional Similarity of Words with Different Frequencies
Distributional semantics tries to characterize the meaning of words by the contexts in which they occur. Similarity of words hence can be derived from the similarity of contexts. Contexts of a word are usually vectors of words appearing near to that word in a corpus. It was observed in previous research that similarity measures for the context vectors of two words depend on the frequency of the...
متن کاملLearning individual words and learning about words simultaneously
Children are guided by constraints and biases in word learning. In the case of the shape bias—the tendency to extend count nouns by similarity in shape—previous findings have revealed that learning plays an important role in its development (e.g., Smith et al., 2002). Some have proposed that children acquire inductive constraints like the shape bias by making inferences about observed data on m...
متن کاملA globally convergent estimator for n-frequencies
In this note, we propose a solution to the well-know problem of ensuring a simultaneous globally convergent online estimation of the state and the frequencies of a sinusoid signal composed of sinusoidal terms. We present an estimator which guarantees global boundedness and convergence of the state and frequencies estimation for all initial conditions and frequencies values.
متن کاملFactor frequencies in generalized Thue-Morse words
L'ubomíra Balková We describe factor frequencies of the generalized Thue–Morse word t b,m defined for b ≥ 2, m ≥ 1, b, m ∈ N, as the fixed point starting in 0 of the morphism ϕ b,m (k) = k(k + 1). .. (k + b − 1), where k ∈ {0, 1,. .. , m − 1} and where the letters are expressed modulo m. We use the result of Frid [4] and the study of generalized Thue–Morse words by Starosta [6].
متن کاملFermionization and Convergent Perturbation Expansions in Chern-simons Gauge Theory
We show that Chern-Simons gauge theory with appropriate cutoffs is equivalent, term by term in perturbation theory, to a Fermionic theory with a nonlocal interaction term. When an additional cutoff is placed on the Fermi fields, this Fermionic theory gives rise to a convergent perturbation expansion. This leads us to conjecture that Chern-Simons gauge theory also gives rise to convergent pertur...
